April 22, 2008
Dear Partner-
I enthusiastically invite you to join over 80 regional leaders from the Puget Sound and Greater Spokane regions on the 2008 Southwest Washington tour. The tour will take place Wednesday, June 18 through Friday, June 20.
Building on the success of the Prosperity Partnership's 2006 Eastern Washington tour and 2007 Central Washington tour, this year's trip has two primary purposes. First, we will learn about issues key to Washington state's continued growth such as power, transportation and their nexus in SW Washington. Second, we will explore business development in SW Washington and the potential for collaboration with the rest of the state. This might include joint advocacy in Olympia, or specific economic development and job creation projects.
SW Washington leaders and businesses are working to strengthen our state in a number of industries and foundation areas important to both Puget Sound and Spokane. Nanophotonics, Clean Technology, Life Sciences all play important roles in the economies of SW Washington, as do Arts and Culture and Higher Education. We will learn what is being done in these clusters and explore ways to collaborate.
We will also explore areas of collaboration between Eastern and Western Washington leaders to improve our economy. Transportation investments, cluster development strategies, innovation zones are all vital to our state's future. We will work to develop specific, tangible and actionable steps that we will take over the coming year to strengthen our state and regions.
Registration materials are online and I will continue to keep you updated as we finalize the agenda. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact, Chris Strow at 206-971-3051 or via email at cstrow@psrc.org if you have any questions.
I look forward to seeing you June 18 - 20!
Sincerely,

Bob Drewel, PSRC
Executive Director
