On July 11, the Prosperity Partnership co-sponsored the “Education & Productivity: A 21st Century Workforce Conference” with partners University of Washington, Technology Alliance, Washington Roundtable and Microsoft. The University of Washington’s Economic Policy Research Center hosted the event, which featured Gov. First year action plan on tap

The Prosperity Partnership will continue talking with regional stakeholders during the rest of the summer to fine tune the regional economic strategy. In parallel we are also working on a 2005/2006 action plan. This plan will outline a specific set of key actions from the regional strategy that will be a special focus in our first year. The EDD Board will then take action on a final strategy and first year action plan in September.

Prosperity Partnership goes on the road

Over the course of the summer, we are scheduled to discuss the draft strategy with over 50 organizations throughout the region. We will continue to refine it based on comments and suggestions by our work groups, partner organizations, and the region’s residents.

If you would like a briefing on the strategy with your organization, please contact Richard Berndt at 206.587.5061.

The Prosperity Partnership has also been coordinating with partner organizations to feature the draft regional economic strategy at major regional events this summer:

  • The 4th Annual Eastside Leadership Conference, hosted by the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, on June 17.
  • "Bringing It Home to Kitsap" brought together Kitsap County business, government and nonprofit leaders on July 5.
  • The Washington Council on International Trade’s 10th Annual Senators' Conference on July 7 centered on our national competitiveness in the changing global economy as well as the Prosperity Partnership’s strategy for our region.

More events are planned in Snohomish and Pierce counties, as well as the Regional Leadership Conference October 5 -7, co-produced with the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce.

Over 140 partners on board – and counting!

While implementation activities pick up steam, the coalition continues to grow. Over 140 organizations from around the region have now signed on as partners in this effort.
