American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Cluster Investment Tour
On December 11, the Prosperity Partnership will lead an all day tour highlighting some of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funded projects that benefit the region's industry clusters.
The ARRA has funded billions of dollars of economic activity in the region, ranging from transportation infrastructure to public schools. In particular, the Prosperity Partnership has identified over 500 investments totaling more than $400 million that directly benefit the region's leading industry clusters. This special edition of the Industry Cluster Tours is an opportunity to learn about some of those investments and see how they are benefitting our region.
The tour will visit three sites: Snohomish County Public Utilities District (to hear about their multiple grants for clean technology projects), the Port of Tacoma (to see how they are using stimulus dollars to improve their logistics and trade capabilities), and the University of Washington (to learn about their huge success in attracting funding for life sciences research). In addition, a variety of speakers will lead a discussion on how the region can leverage these investments to maximum impact for the Puget Sound economy.
