Economic Summit
On November 19, 2004, over 1,100 leaders from business, non-profits, and the public sector met to discuss how to build a long-range economic strategy for the central Puget Sound region, with the goal of creating 100,000 new jobs by 2010.
Participants heard from some of the Prosperity Partnership's co-chairs, including Brad Smith, Senior Vice President of Microsoft, Rita Ryder, President of the YWCA, and Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg. The co-chairs were joined on the podium by Governor Gary Locke, King County Executive Ron Sims, Attorney General-elect Rob McKenna, Seattle City Councilman and PSRC Board President Richard McIver, and Renton Mayor Kathy Keolker-Wheeler.
In addition to presentations from community and business leaders, participants engaged in a number of interactive sessions regarding the region's economic foundations - such as human resources, access to capital, physical infrastructure, and more.
